The story

In the breathtaking landscapes of Rwanda's Western Province, at an impressive altitude of 2,100 meters, Ruronzi Farm produces coffee that captures the essence of its terroir.Ruronzi Farm is a project of Ikawa House, a premier coffee company based in Kigali, Rwanda, founded in 2019 by Habimana Uzziel and Mukandahiro Laetitia.

For this Lot , the coffee undergoes a Natural Anaerobic process. Ripe cherries are hand-picked, to remove defects, and then placed in sealed, oxygen-free tanks for controlled fermentation. After fermentation, the cherries are slowly dried on raised beds to preserve the complex aromatic compounds developed during processing.

Ikawa House is dedicated to supporting smallholder farmers and cooperatives across Rwanda, collaborating closely to ensure quality and traceability and reinforcing a commitment to ethical sourcing practices.

From Rwanda's Western Province, at the impressive altitude of 2,100 meters, Ruronzi Farm produces this exceptional Natural Anaerobic lot.

The Ruronzi farm is a Rwandan plantation managed by Ikawa House in the Karongi district. The farm was created in 2020, with 1,600 coffee trees. The farm has continued to develop towards a shaded production model, with the planting of 2,800 trees in 2021, 1,600 coffee trees in 2022 and 3,000 trees in 2023. The farm's objective? To be able to produce a full container of Bourbon Rouge.

To achieve this, the farm is linked to the Ikawa House training centre, so that students can put into practice what they learn at the training centre. Ruronzi aims to be a place of learning and experimentation, particularly in new coffee processing techniques.
