The Asociación Sostenible de Productores de Guatemala (ASPROGUATE) began operations in 2015, led by a group of organized producers distributed in the municipalities of Acatenango and San Martín Jilotepeque, located in Chimaltenango’s department, and the municipality of Cobán, located in Alta Verapaz’s department, with purpose of marketing quality coffees grown using organic farming practices is to market them.
"The plan to create a coffee label called Fuerza de Mujer emerged from the commitment and vision of our coffee producers' association in San Martín Jilotepeque. As hardworking women passionate about coffee farming, we felt the need to highlight our efforts, our identity, and the quality of our product. Fuerza de Mujer not only represents single-origin coffee, but also the value of collective work, the fight for female empowerment in the fields, and the desire to open new opportunities for our families and our community. This label was born from the shared dream of leaving a mark on every cup."
This coffee is produced by a group of 56 producers located in the municipality of San Martín Jilotepeque; all farms are certified by FairTrade International, FairTrade USA, RFA, Organic EU, and USDA. This coffee is harvested, stored at the mill, pulped, fermented for 12 to 36 hours, washed with clean water, then dried in patios. It then moves to storage rooms to be threshed and prepared for export.
A Fairtrade certification (FLO ID) is required to place an order for this Fairtrade-certified product.
