The story

Before entering the coffee business, SNAP was a family-owned company with over 25 years of experience across other industries. When they launched their coffee division in 2017, they made a deliberate choice: start with specialty, start with quality. Today, with more than 25 stations across Yirgacheffe, Guji, and West Arsi—including their own dry mill—SNAP exports up to 260 containers annually. But their success is measured not just in volume, but in impact.

Refisa is a well-known washing station serving 547 registered out-growers. The rugged terrain means farmers deliver their cherries not by truck, but by donkey and horse—a humbling reminder of the dedication required to bring this coffee to your cup. Every farmer operates under an agreement with SNAP: supply only red, ripe cherries.

Shaded fermentation for 45–60 hours, with early-harvest cherries held for the full 60 hours to develop clarity. Fully washed to remove all mucilage. Dried on 200 African beds—first on primary beds at 5–10cm thickness, picked for 5–10 minutes, then moved to permanent beds. Total drying time: 7–10 days, ensuring even moisture content and pristine cup quality.

SNAP understands that exceptional coffee requires exceptional communities. They provide out-growers with infrastructure, including road access, a hospital, and a school. Farmers receive 20 to 40 seedlings depending on their farm size. The company has invested 5 million Ethiopian Birr in a boarding school project, alongside ongoing contributions to school construction and healthcare maintenance.

Sourced from the highlands of Refisa at 2,156 meters, this washed coffee is a testament to quality and community.

SNAP was established on 2008 in Addis Ababa. It was created by Ato Sisay. This entrepreneur man, chooses to select the best coffees from Yirgacheffe and Guji, to send them on international market. To insure this high quality, SNAP is working closely with the outgrowers of the company. SNAP manages 3 washing and drying stations. Two are located in Gedeo Zone, in Chelelektu and Kochere woredas (districts). The other one is in Guji Zone, at Nensebo (West Arsi). SNAP is preparing coffee lots very carefully and the company is often recognized for its work. Different coffees from SNAP won international prices.
